Split Pea Soup Recipe

So many of you may already know I am doing a week of Ham and last nights dinner was Split Pea Soup. I thought I would share the recipe with you. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I do. (ps - I tell my little ones that it is Shrek Soup and they eat it up)
In your Crockpot add

9 - cups water (I like my soup not so thick)
1 - 16oz pkg of dried split peas
1 - tsp salt
3 - medium carrots sliced into 1/4 in slices
3 - medium potatoes peeled and diced
1 - medium sweet onion
2 - stalks celery finely chopped
1 - Ham bone or 2 Ham hocks

Mix everything in the crockpot except the ham. Once mixed you want to add your ham bone left over from your ham the other night. If you don't have a ham bone you can use two ham hocks. It will turn out just as great.

Cover and cook on low for 8 to 10 hours

One done pull the meat from the bones. A great way to do that is with two forks. Added the pulled meat back to the soup and discard the bones.

Serve and Enjoy!
