 Without the use of wood or plastic, I'm sure this feeder can with stand the beating of most squirrels out there. With it's sleek metal design I am sure it will attract birds. One of the benefits of it being made of metal is that it will allow you to easily clean it up. Sometimes the feeders can become moldy from being outside and I like to keep mine clean. One suggestion I would make is that when you go to fill the feeder make sure to put it over something that will catch the seed that falls out. I also noticed that this feeder seems to keep the seed longer. My birds did not go through as much food as I normally do with my other conventional feeder. This feeder is sturdy enough even for my Blue Jays. They can easily hang from it and eat seed. This is by far one of my favorite feeders from Perky-Pet!
